Wall diving involves swimming alongside a nearly vertical underwater geological feature, such as a coral reef or rock formation, that drops off into the deep abyss. Look up and then down and you experience how water filters light from rich aqua at the top to deep blue at the bottom. I capture the experience using close focus wide-angle flash-fill techniques.
These images come from the coral reef walls of Northern Sulawesi, Indonesia. This spectacular coral reef ecosystem offers miles of ledges, undercuts, crevices to explore at depths ranging from 60 to 120 feet.
